Available to order from today (2nd July), and building on the impressive hatchback model, Volkswagen has announced details and prices for the Golf Estate.
The big news is an extra 100 litres of space in the boot – 605 litres compared with the 505 litres in the outgoing model – when loaded up to the back seat backrest. For ease, the rear seats can be folded via a release in the boot, and in this configuration, the cargo volume figure is 1,620 litres.
Roof bars come as standard on all Golf Estates – black on the S and SE models, and anodised silver on the GT. Extra storage space has also been made available with the addition of a multi-level cargo floor.
Buyers will have a choice of seven engines – three diesels and four petrol units. All will feature stop/start technology, while the Golf Estate gets its own BlueMotion model for the first time. This vehicle is powered by a 1.6-litre diesel with 109bhp, records 85.6mpg, and goes on sale towards the end of the year.
The Golf Estate range starts at 17,915 OTR, an increase of £765 over the hatchback model. The range-topping 2-litre TDi GT model starts from £25,855
