Who we are
The UK Car of the Year Awards (UKCOTY) is a wholly independent set of awards, designed to highlight and advise on the best new cars on the market specifically for UK customers.
Now into its fourth year, the UK Car of the Year Awards are designed specifically for the UK car-buying public. It is the calibre of the 27 professional journalist judges that cover the whole industry that lends UKCOTY a gravitas hitherto unrivalled. Geographically all corners of the UK are represented and the judges comprise some of the most respected names in motoring journalism. Many of the judges will drive in excess of 300 cars a year.
UKCOTY offers impartial advice, both through the website and also the various media that the judges write for. These include:
Top Gear Magazine, The Sunday Times, The Daily Express, The Telegraph, CAR, Auto Express, BusinessCar, The Independent, Talk Radio, Car Design News, EVO Magazine, Pistonheads, Fleet World, The Sun, The Daily Record, Motoring.co.uk, Metro, Auto Retail Network, The Sunday Post, Auto Trader, Auto Mundial, Honest John, MSN Cars, Classic Car Weekly, Parkers, Practical Caravan, The Camping and Caravan Club. The combined panel of 27 judges reach more than 80 million consumers a month.
We are pitched between the awards handed out by a single magazine, and those that are presented on a pan-country, or even continent, basis.
This year category winners were announced in January, and the overall UK Car of the Year was revealed on 24th February 2017, just prior to the change of vehicle registration to ’17-plate’ models.
