Vauxhall announces Insignia revisions

Vauxhall has comprehensively revised its Insignia and now offers engines with carbon dioxide emissions from 99g/km.

There are changes to the exterior that include a new grille, but the biggest styling changes are inside with a reworked centre console. Vauxhall says it has listened to customers who said there were too many buttons, so the new console has been simplified. A new instrument binnacle has also been added.

The optional display screen is now larger, going from five to eight inches in width, and there are additional functions it can display.

Still available as a saloon, hatch or estate, the new Insignia now comes with revised suspension to improve the ride and handling. High performance VXR models also have reworked electric power steering to deliver more feel and feedback.

The 118bhp and 138bhp versions of the 2.0-litre turbodiesel engines now deliver 99g/km CO2 emissions coupled to 76.3mpg average fuel economy. For the more potent 160bhp 2.0-litre diesel, economy now comes in at 65.7mpg and emissions are reduced to 114g/km.

Vauxhall now also offers its new 1.6-litre SIDI direct injection petrol engine with 167- and 246bhp, the latter available with four-wheel drive as an option.

The large Insignia trim range has been pared down from 14 to eight models and prices now start at £16,279.
