Visitors to July’s Goodwood Festival of Speed will be among the first people to see the new Škoda Octavia vRS in the flesh. The Czech manufacturer has announced that the fastest production Octavia ever produced will make its worldwide debut at the event, which takes place in July.
The performance figures for the new Octavia vRS are impressive: Depending on the powertrain, the car can accelerate from zero to 62mph in 6.8 seconds, and go onto a top speed of 154mph. Buyers have a choice of a 2-litre TSI petrol engine, with 217bhp, or a diesel offering 182bhp.
Keeping with the sporty theme, the new car has sports suspension as standard, while the body is dropped by 12mm. Adding to the dynamic improvements is new electro-mechanical ‘progressive steering’. Using this system, smaller steering inputs are required by drivers, enabling a more responsive system.
Efficiency and fuel economy are also given consideration, however, with start-stop and brake energy regeneration systems also fitted as standard.
The Škoda Octavia vRS goes on sale in the UK from July; prices are set to be confirmed closer to the launch date.
