Aiming to combine the best of a track-day racer and everyday road car, Porsche has revealed details and images of the latest 911 Turbo.
It’s a technology fest, with a new all-wheel-drive system with active rear axle steering one of the many highlights. Drivers will have up to 560bhp to play with from the car’s 3.8-litre inline six-cylinder turbocharged engine, which is mated to Porsche’s tried and tested seven-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission.
In the standard Turbo model, drivers can sprint from a standstill to 62mph in 3.2 seconds (3.1 for the Turbo S), and go on to a maximum of 197mph.
The ’991′ model sees the first installation of Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) in a 911 Turbo. The anti-roll system is standard on the Turbo S, and available as an option on the Turbo model.
The inclusion of rear axle steering is designed to improve performance on the road, as well as on the track. Two electro-mechanical actuators are used in place of the standard control arms, allowing the angle of the rear wheels to be varied by up to 2.8°, depending on vehicle speed.
Available to order now, the Turbo is price from £118,349, and the Turbo S priced from £140,852.
