In a boost for the UK’s car industry, Bentley has confirmed that it will develop an SUV that will go on sale in 2016. In the process it has committed to an investment of £800 million for the project.
The Crewe-headquartered manufacturer says confirmation of the new vehicle – the fourth in the company’s line-up – will create more than 1,000 jobs in the country.
Few specifics about the new car have been revealed, with Bentley commenting that it will be “a thoroughbred Bentley true to the brand hallmarks of luxury, performance, quality and craftsmanship”. Bentley also claims the currently unnamed model will be “the most luxurious and most powerful SUV in the market”.
Given the project is at an early stage, no photographs of the car are available; interested parties and Bentley fans will have to settle for this outline sketch.
