Citroën has shown the first images of its Grand C4 Picasso, a larger version of the French manufacturer’s C4 Picasso people carrier.
With the ability to seat up to seven people, the new car takes on a fresh design and offers a number of advantages over its predecessor.
Helped by a reduced kerbweight of up to 110kg compared with the outgoing model, the Grand C4 Picasso’s CO2 and NOx figures have been reduced. The e-HD1 90 Airdream model fitted with Citroën’s new 6-speed clutchless manual gearbox emits just 98g/km of CO2 – a record in this class, according to the French.
The interior is designed to have a loft-space feel, with a focus on maximising natural light. Elsewhere a mix of high-quality materials have been used, such as chrome, to add an element of luxury inside. A 7in touchpad and 12in panoramic HD screen provide a central base for all of the cars’ controls, making it easy for users to alter vehicle settings to their own requirements.
Electric power steering and an improved suspension set up promise to provide a better compromise between ride and handling in the Grand C4 Picasso. Many of the improvements have been possible thanks to the use of the new EMP2 vehicle platform.
